What is IPSF?
IPSF, the International Pharmaceutical Students’ Federation, was founded in London in 1949, with the statutory aim of “studying and promoting the interests of pharmaceutical students and to encourage international co-operation among them”. At the time, eight countries formed the membership of this Federation, most of them coming from Western Europe. Over sixty years have passed and today, IPSF represents more three hundred and thirteen thousand (313,000) pharmacy students and recent graduates in over eighty countries worldwide. IPSF is the leading international advocacy organisation for pharmacy students promoting improved public health through provision of information, education, networking, and a range of publications and professional activities.

What is SEP?
Student Exchange Programme (SEP) is IPSF's largest project, offering professional pharmacy internships. Every year, more than 900 students around the world are given the opportunity to experience the field of pharmacy in different countries.
The member associations of IPSF organize the exchanges by finding host sites where the students are trained. The programme runs throughout the year (Winter version and Summer version), but the majority of the exchanges take place between May and September. The length is usually 1 to 3 months with a minimum of 60 working hours per exchange, and possible host sites include:
- Community pharmacy;
- Hospital pharmacy;
- Clinical pharmacy;
- Wholesale pharmacy;
- Pharmaceutical industry;
- Research at university;
- Government or private health agencies.
The host may also provide room, board and/or pocket money in addition to the training site in order to help the applicant.
Who can participate?
Pharmacy students who belong to an IPSF member association can apply for SEP through their association. If your association is not a member of IPSF, you can apply for Individual Membership first and then apply as an Individiual Member. To apply for Individiual Membership, please send the following form to the Chairperson of Internal Relations at firstname.lastname@example.org and to the IPSF Membership Coordinator at email@example.com:
Recent graduates (up to four years after their graduation) can apply for SEP as Individual Members.

What countries can I go on exchange to?
A list of all participating associations and countries are listed in the 'Associations' tab on the left-hand menu. You can view a lot of information about each association and also view evaluations posted by past SEP participants.
How do I sign up?
Before creating an account, make sure you are eligible by contacting the Student Exchange Officer (SEO) from your association and find out more about the pre-selection procedure. Once having this confirmation, click on 'Apply for Student Exchange Programme' and follow the prompts to complete your registration. Make sure that you select the correct association you belong to and the correct SEP year, otherwise your registration may go astray. Once your registration is complete and confirmed by your SEO, you can then begin your actual SEP application.
For Individual Members the steps are the same, before applying you should make sure you have the confirmation and approval from IPSF to participate in SEP. At 'Association', you should select 'IPSF Individual Members'.
