Australia, NAPSA
Area possibilities
Community Pharmacy
Length of training periods
2-4 weeks
Available months and cities
Community pharmacy placements are available around Australia. We will strive to accommodate the student’s preference. Students can be guaranteed a great experience in any Australian city.
Type accommodation
Generally, exchange students will be hosted in family homes belonging to Australian pharmacy students. Exchange students will be asked to pay 96 Euros (150 AUD) to the host family per week, to cover food and living expenses.
Board, pocket money or other financial benefits/remuneration
Most positions are unpaid and no spending money is provided. Australia can appear very expensive compared to some other countries and students should be prepared for this. They will be expected to bring spending money to cover any social events, outings and gifts. Visa and MasterCards are both commonly used in Australia, however, the student should also bring cash in the local currency which is Australian dollars.
Language requirements
Ideally, to speak English. Additional languages can be very useful depending on the community pharmacy in which the student is placed.
Information on Work Permits and Visa
Generally, a visa is not required for entry into Australia for a holiday (as SEP is unpaid work, it is considered a holiday) under one month. Visa requirements are currently changing though, so each applicant should consider researching any requirements specific to them.
Selection Procedures
Eligible students are selected by the SEO, however, if a suitable host community of pharmacy is not found, the exchange will not be able to proceed. Updated on 01/11/2020
